Persecution Big Picture – The Biblical Pillar – Part 1
Back
Come discover "treasures of darkness, riches hidden in secret places...” (Isaiah 45:3)

There's an enemy and where there's an enemy there's a pursuit. We explore how this pursuit looks like in parts of the Bible. We also review the biblical definitions of persecution vis-à-vis the definitions from the realm of human rights.  We will find some striking similarities and dissimilarities.  We look at the ways Christ got into trouble.  We look at the five main sources of persecution in the NT – families, kings, priests, merchants and mobs.  And so, we gain a realization that everyone must become aware of how suffering is integral not only to discipleship but essential to mission.

What will I learn?

  1. I will learn what is a biblical understanding of Christian persecution and how to define it.
  2. I can identify the different sources of persecution in my own situation and develop strategies to defend myself from these sources.
  3. I can use the strategies learned to stay close to God.
  4. I can witness to others in the same situation and encourage them to use these strategies in their situations.
